This year we had 5 days for Christmas vacation. It started with Miss Jenny coming to town to spend a couple of days with us. By the end of our time together Dakota Grace started calling her Aunt Jenny and wanted to know when Uncle James was coming to visit. We don't have just a whole lot of visitors, etc so I guess Dakota Grace thinks that Jenny is an Aunt since James is an Uncle. On sunday we had lunch with my family, played Wii, watched Batman Begins and went to the Christmas program at our church. Dakota Grace also spent lots of time teaching Miss Jenny how to paint with water colors. Monday we watched the Dark Knight and Ronny, Jenny and I headed to Jackson for some shopping and mexican.
Tuesday night BJ and I both came down with a virus (no fun) and wednesday I had to take Dakota Grace back to the doctor. Her tonsils are still swollen horribly but the strep test came back negative. Mom had dropped us off in order to take my aunt and uncle shopping and drop some things off at another friends house. So after hitting the pharmacy Dakota Grace and I went to Burger King. Might I add that it was pouring rain. Thankfully Dakota Grace had opted for her rain jacket and pink boots for the day. After I order a snack for us I am turning to fill my drink and a young girl (5th-8th grade) approaches me and hands me a gift bag and says this is a gift for your little girl, Merry Christmas. She then hurries out to her mother who is in the entry way and they leave. Wow! Talk about a secret santa. I don't know if they saw us crossing the street or just came to Burger King in order to find someone but they made Dakota Grace's day. This year has been really hard on us so Christmas was on the small side for us. I get to where I hate turning on the TV and hearing these supposedly poor people say it just isn't going to be a good Christmas and here people show up with $100's of dollars of gifts. So anyway, the kids didn't get a whole lot this year but between this little secret santa, a friend and a lady and her niece at church kids have really had a blast with their gifts. For this we are thankful and we are thankful that Ronny has a job, we have a roof over our heads, running vehicles, heat and plenty of space for the kids to run. What more could a body want?
